There are at least two other houses on the block for sale and both have been on the market for close to a year. Both had realtors.
Since our house needs some minor sprucing up I don't mind taking less than the house is worth. Our lawyer pointed out that a realtor is less likely to give you that "wiggle room" because of course they are getting a commission on the sale of the house, which is the second reason I'd rather find a buyer myself.
I figured after I found a buyer and agreed on a price then I could hire someone to help me with the details of the sale. Anyone out there been through this already?
